KARACHI, May 6: Bandits shot and injured a young man in Defence Housing Authority on Tuesday.

The police said Abdullah Shaheen, aged 30, an employee of an information technology institute in Khayaban-i-Sahar, DHA Phase -7, encash a cheque for Rs100,000 at the MCB branch in Defence Phase-II Commercial Extension. On his way back two armed youths riding a motorcycle intercepted him near West Point building in Phase-II Extension.

When Abdullah tried to put up resistance to the bandits they shot and wounded him and escaped. He has been admitted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

DIE OF BURNS: A young girl and a man who had suffered burns died at Civil Hospital on Tuesday.

A carpenter who was allegedly set on fire by a customs officer died at the hospital.

The police said Mohammed Saleem, aged 35, was allegedly set on fire by a collector customs. First, he was admitted to a private hospital, but was later referred to Civil Hospital where he died.

The police said Noor Bahar, aged 18, suffered serious burns while working in the kitchen of her house in Mohammedi Colony in TPX police limits. She had been admitted to the burns ward at Civil Hospital where she died.

ELECTROCUTED: A worker died of electrocution in a factory in SITE.

The police said Mohammed, aged 50, was doing white-wash in a factory when he suffered an electric shock. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
