KARACHI, May 4: Acute water shortage continued to persist in various parts of the city in the current hot and dry weather.

The hard-hit areas included Landhi Area 2-B, Block 77, North Nazimabad’s Block N, Bangalore Town, Adamjee Nagar, Jinnah Cooperative Housing Society, AL-Hamra Society, Dhoraji Colony, parts of Old city Area, Orangi, Baldia, Shershah and SITE industrial area.

Residents of Landhi’s Area 2-B and North Nazimabad’s Block N complained that although they had been deprived of water for the last 15 days, the officials concerned of the city government’s water and sanitation department had not yet taken measures to restore the supply despite a number of complaints lodged from time to time.

Similarly, residents of Bangalore Town complained that they were not getting any supply for the past one week.

Residents of the affected localities demanded of the city Nazim and the water and sanitation department’s EDO to intervene in the matter to help resolve the lingering water issue.
