Raza Rabbani`s good work

Published March 11, 2010

AS the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms, drawn from both houses, is fast approaching the completion of its gigantic task, I would like to salute Senator Mian Raza Rabbani for rendering such a magnificent service to the nation.

The way he conducted himself while presiding over a committee assigned the most delicate task of dissecting the Constitution and purging it of dictatorial amendments we all abhor is matchless. Senator Rabbani deserves all the credit, as sooner or later the committee will submit its report to our parliament.

Over the years Senator Rabbani, the son of Mian Ata Rabbani, the first aide - de - camp (ADC) to Quaid - i - Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, has proved himself a man of principles. He rose to the occasion several times he was one of the co - authors of the Charter of Democracy, signed between former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif in May 2006, that paved the way for politics of reconciliation in Pakistan.
