KARACHI, Aug 10 Despite having slumped to 23rd spot in the world rankings, Pakistan's top squash player Aamir Atlas Khan has vowed to perform better in the forthcoming major international tournaments.

Set to feature in Hong Kong Squash Championship, to be played from Aug 25-29 and carrying a prize purse of US$147,500, Aamir is placed as the 19th seed.

However, the 21-year-old player said that he would be looking for some big scalps and would perform much better than the seedings show. “I have been training well for the last two months and my fitness and form is the main reason which makes me confident that I would be able to pull off some major upsets.

In the Qatar Classic Championship in November last year, I defeated the then world No 1 Gregory Gaultier of France. So I feel I could produce more such good results in future,” Aamir Atlas told newsmen on Monday. He would also be featuring in British Grand Prix Squash Championship, to be held in Manchester from Sept 15-20. He is seeded 12th there.

Later in November Aamir would also participate in Qatar Classic Championship and in December would feature in all-important lucrative Saudi PSA World Open Championship, carrying a prize purse of $327,500.—PPI
