ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: The auditor general of Pakistan has complained to the capital police that he is facing life threats from one of his subordinates, sources in the police told Dawn on Tuesday.

They said in an application submitted to the inspector general of police Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan, AGP Akhtar Buland Rana stated: “In the event of my unnatural death or injury, the official will be held responsible,” the sources quoted the application.

The applicant added that his subordinate wanted an extension in his service and desired to become the auditor general of Pakistan.

In response, the IGP forwarded the application to the superintendent of police city zone through the senior superintendent of police for legal action.

Sources told Dawn that the police officers had decided to investigate the issue before bringing the allegation to book.

The investigators will approach both the officers to record their statements and seek evidence.

Akthar Hussain Niazi, the spokesman for the AGP, when contacted, neither denied nor confirmed the development, maintaining that he was unaware of the situation.

When asked to get the news confirmed from AGP Rana, he asked this reporter to approach him on Wednesday.

IGP Bani Amin Khan was not available for comments despite repeated attempts to contact him.
