
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court resumed the hearing of the NICL scam case on Thurday, DawnNews reported.
A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad was hearing the case regarding alleged corruption worth billions of rupees in the affairs of the National Insurance Company Limited.
During the hearing, Director Legal of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Muhammad Azam Khan submitted the FIA Director General’s written report to the court.
In his remarks, Chief Justice Iftikhar said that the FIA should not treat the case as a personal issue.
Expressing his displeasure over the FIA’s inaction against the Warraich family, the chief justice inquired of Azam Khan as to what steps had been taken after the registration of a case against Mohsin Warraich.
Moreover, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja in his remarks said that the FIA had taken no action in the past 20 months and questioned if the FIA considered influential individuals to be out of its reach.
Earlier on Wednesday, the court had ordered the authorities to arrest those involved in the corruption by today (Thursday).
