ISLAMABAD, March 2: A geyser at the residence of a Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) official exploded on Friday, damaging the property.Fortunately no injuries were reported.

The incident took place in H. No. 10, St No. 1, Sector G-6/3 allotted to Assistant General Manager Pemra Jahanzeb Khanzada who had been living with his family for the last seven years.

Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) maintenance team had recently renovated the house and four days ago an electric geyser was installed in courtyard of the house. On Friday the geyser suddenly blew up breaking windowpanes of the house and neighbouring buildings.

At the time of incident, inmates were home but luckily remained safe.

According to Aabpara police, a CDA contractor had purchased the geyser from Sector G-8. Preliminarily investigation suggested that it was of low quality and its thermostat was also out of order. As a result, the water kept boiling inside and turned into vapours building great pressure against the walls of the apparatus which led to the explosion, police added.
