KARACHI: A large number of Hindu community members attended a function organised in connection with Gita Jeyanti at the Swami Narayan temple opposite the KMC Building on MA Jinnah Road on Tuesday evening.

Hindu scholars Sant Madhu Sodan Bapuji, Pandit Bansilal Hatwal, Ravi Ramesh Maharaj and others highlighted the teachings of Bhagwat Gita, one of the religion’s holiest scriptures, and told the followers to practise the teachings to promote love, peace and justice.

Plays based on the history of the religion were staged at the programme where Bhajans and other religious songs were sung by devotees.

The programme, organised by the Shree Gita Art Publication Welfare Trust, concluded with the prayer for the integrity and solidarity of Pakistan and prosperity of the Hindu community.

Free food was also distributed among the devotees.
