LAHORE, Dec 8: A youth was shot dead allegedly by a shopkeeper for a mere Rs50 dispute in Misri Shah here on Thursday.

Police said Waqas, 20, of Kachhupura, succumbed to his wound at Mayo Hospital.

The police investigation showed that Islam opened fire on Waqas after the latter refused to pay an additional Rs50 to the former for the repair of a cell phone.

Waqas had agreed to pay Rs150 to Islam, but later Islam demanded Rs50 more which led to an exchange of words.

The accused, who already thrashed a child customer over a monetary dispute, escaped from the spot.

Police said efforts were being made to arrest the accused, Islam.
