THE Gorakh Hill Station is located at about 100 kilometres from Dadu in Sindh. Its height is 5,500 feet above sea level.

Its expanse range goes up to another hill known as the Dog’s Grave whose height is 7,133 feet. Both these are situated at an altitude higher than that of the Co-Murree Hills.

The Gorakh Hill (station) people have started honeybee farming at an altitude of 3,500 feet. With the information available, there is not a single motel for accommodation or for that matter an eatery.

It is amazing that the Sindh government has been lackadaisical with regard to its tourism denotation.

Turbulence in Malakand, Swat, Buner and Fata as a result of militancy has hit tourism. Fewer foreign tourists, as well as locals, are noticeable.

This has resulted in loss of foreign exchange. Shops are almost closed and women are confined to homes. It is said that when the late Benazir Bhutto was prime minister, she had visited the Gorakh Hills and issued a directive for developing this resort after clearing the surroundings of dacoits who still infest the area.

The Sindh government should have developed these two resorts a long time back so that people could visit these places to get rid of the scorching summer in Sindh.

The chief minister should take immediate steps in this regard. No sooner the infrastructure is ready, the government can auction plots for hotels/motels, restaurants, shopping markets and houses. People will find avenues to do businesses while workers

would also have an abundance of jobs to render.
