CHAKWAL, May 25: A man hunted down his missing sister and her lover to their hiding place in a nearby village on Tuesday and shot both dead.

After avenging the family’s “honour”, Naveed Ahmed of Chohan village surrendered himself to Dhudial police.Neighbours said that his 18-year-old sister Sadaf Zehra had eloped with her lover Shumar Khan, 23, overnight. Within hours, her raving brother tracked them down sheltering in the house of the boy’s friend in Doray village and finished them off.

Dhudial police have registered a case on the complaint of Imran, the brother of Shumar Khan.

“During the initial interrogation the accused said that he committed the crime for honour,” SHO Saleem Akhtar said. The killer would be presented in the court on Wednesday.

Chohan villagers said Shumar Khan was a scrap dealer and developed relations with Sadaf during his business visits to her village. Sadaf belonged to a poor family and innocent of the world’s ways.
