HARIPUR, Feb 21: The Hattar police on Monday foiled an attempt to shift stolen machinery of a steel manufacturing unit worth millions of rupees to Punjab and arrested five alleged thieves.

Police said that Mohammad Nisar, the owner of Atlas Steel Mills, Hattar Industrial Estate, had lodged a complaint that some thieves had stolen machines of his factory in connivance with two watchmen. The police stopped a 20-wheeler trailer (RPT 5037) near Gangu, the exit point of Haripur district and recovered the machinery from it. The truck was impounded and the two watchmen Naseer and Riaz Ahmed were arrested along with Mushtaq Ahmed, driver Sikandar Abbas and Shahid Khan.
