ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani discussed the state of Pakistan-US relations, economic situation of the country and the proposed round-table conference of political parties at a meeting held at the Presidency on Sunday.

According to sources, the president and the prime minister also discussed the names of PPP leaders who could be appointed the next foreign minister. The cabinet’s expansion also came under discussion.

The prime minister, the sources said, informed Mr Zardari about the outcome of his contacts with coalition partners with regard to their views on the new cabinet.

According to sources, the prime minister has proposed that only the judiciary should take a decision about diplomatic immunity to American citizen Raymond Davis and that no pressure on the issue should be accepted.

Mr Gilani also discussed with the president his proposed visit to Kuwait. The prime minister said that during his one-day visit he would discuss with Kuwaiti authorities the measures needed for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

He told the president that he would invite Kuwaiti businessmen to invest in Pakistan.

Mr Gilani said the proposed round-table conference would be a good forum to discuss political, economic and security issues.
