TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 7: Pirmahal police on Tuesday registered a murder case against six people who allegedly killed a man over a dispute arising in a fight of dogs at Chak 57/4-GB, Tukra village. Ashraf Channar of Chak 513-GB informed the police that he, his brother Akram Channar and some friends went to the village along with their dogs where the contest was to be held.

He said they had an exchange of harsh words with the accused, Arif Khan, of Chak 732-GB and his five accomplices over a dispute related to the dog-fight.

He said later Arif and his accomplices opened fire on them when they were sitting inside an outhouse. As a result, Akram Channar died on the spot.

The police were conducting raids to arrest the accused.

SEMINAR: A walk and a seminar were held here in connection with the International Day of Torture against Women by the Association for Peace and Prosperity, an NGO. The walk, participated by women, was held on Jhang Road.

It was followed by a seminar held at Social Welfare Complex which was addressed by former district council member Azra Roohi, social welfare district officer Muhammad Irfan, special education school principal Mahmooda Kausar, Ms Fouzia Khan, and others.

Speakers said the women of Pakistan must demand protective legislation and an overhaul of the entire justice system.

They said there was a need to change the mindset of male-dominated law enforcement agencies.

ARRESTED: City police arrested a dealer for selling adulterated fertilizer.

An agriculture official said samples of a known brand were obtained from the store of the accused, Ghulam Shabbir, that were found to be adulterated after laboratory tests.

OUTLAWS HELD: Gojra police claimed to have arrested six people from Jhang who were allegedly involved in dacoities and thefts in the area.

A police official said six motorcycles snatched in robberies were also recovered from the accused.
