HYDERABAD, April 8 Deploring younger generation`s, lack of interest in their culture, nationalist leader Asif Baladi has expressed fear that the Sindhi culture may face distortion if they fail in following the norms of it.

He said that Sindhi language was the main pillar of their existence and it was the duty of the younger lot to promote it.

He said this at a function organised by the JSSF Ideological Committee on the lawns of Arts Faculty, Sindh University Jamshoro on Wednesday. The event was attended by a large number of male and female students.

Education was the best weapon said Baladi while exhorting the students to arm themselves with it.

Students presented tableaux and wore traditional dress to depict and promote culture and traditions of Sindh.

Awards were given to Prof Syed Mahtab Ali Shah, Asif Baladi, Basheer Qureshi and Abdul Majeed Bhurgari for their services in the cause of Sindh and promotion of culture and language.

Saghar Hanif Burdi received the award on behalf of the JSQM chairman, Basheer Qureshi who could not come.

Position holder students were given medals and outstanding students commendatory
certificates.

Sindhi petriotic songs were also sung on the occasion.
