KARACHI, Feb 14 Karachi Grammar School (KGS) beat DA Public School 3-0 in the 6th Oasys Inter-school Football Tournament`s first semi-final amid much controversy at the DHA Ground on Saturday.

After Shaezar Razi (26th and 36th mins) and an own goal by DA School`s Hamza Malik won the match for KGS, the DA Public School coach Tariq Quraishi, speaking to Dawn, said that he was most disappointed by the bad refereeing during the match.

“Our star defender Asim Baloch gestured for water during the match so I asked the match commissioner Chowdhary Israr if it was okay for me to take him some water. The commissioner told me to leave it on the side line. Asim then was shown the yellow card for having water. When I questioned the match commissioner about the referee`s decision, he said that the boy was not inside the line. Well, what was the use of getting permission then?” Asked the frustrated coach who was even more surprised at what happened after that.

“They noted Asim`s name and his jersey number which was `4` on the score sheet only to scratch it out later and replace it with DA School`s star forward Mohsin Liaquat`s name and jersey number `11`.

“I`m not saying that the referees favoured the other school but such carelessness hurts players` morale,” said Tariq.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, St Patrick`s High School edged past City School (PAF chapter) 5-4 in match decided on penalty kicks after the score line remained locked at 1-1 during regulation time.

Star striker Imran Abdullah scored the first goal for the winners in the seventh minute but City School`s Mohammad Osama restored parity in the 13th minute.

The final between KGS and St Patrick`s High School will be played at the GDGK Stadium at 4.00pm on Sunday.
