ATTOCK, Sept 21: Hundreds of people staged a peaceful protest demonstration against the blasphemous film after Friday prayers here.  

A number of rallies were taken out from different mosques of the city which reached at Fowara Chowk after passing through different areas.

Addressing the gathering there, political and religious leaders, including former state minister Malik Amin Alsam of Pakistan Tehrik-i- Insaf, former district nazim Tahir Sadik Khan, PPP leader Syed Azmat Bukhari, PML-N’s MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Jammat-i-Islami’s Malik Iqbal and JUI leader Hafiz Mohammad Saeed said the film was an open aggression against Islam and had hurt the sentiments of the Muslims. They said it was a conspiracy of the Zionist lobbies to instigate the Muslims.

The protesters also brunt the effigy of the film producer and the US flag to express their anger.

Meanwhile, traders and transporters also observed complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike to condemn the blasphemous film.

TAXILA: All types of public transport, businesses and public life remained suspended here. Rallies were held throughout the city to condemn the blasphemous film.

Traders also observed a complete shutter-down and even petrol pumps remained closed. Soon after Friday prayers, angry protesters holding banners and placards took out rallies chanting slogans against the filmmaker and the US government. The protesters also burnt the US flag and raised slogans against India, US and Israel. Addressing the protest rallies, religious and political leaders and even fathers from local Christian community said the producers of the blasphemous film had tried to damage interfaith harmony.

MURREE: All markets here remained closed while ulema, members of civil society and political parties participated in a big protest rally on the Mall. Small rallies from various localities of the town were taken out that reached the GPO chowk where a big public gathered was held.

Speakers, including PML-N local chapter president Daftar Abbasi, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Qari Saifullah Saifi and member Punjab assembly Raja Fayaz Sarwar condemned the film.

GUJAR KHAN: The residents, traders, students, political and religious leaders poured on the G.T. Road here to hold peaceful rallies while commercial activity remained closed all the day.

The activists of PPP, PML-N, PTI,Tehrik Minhajul Quran, Jamaat-i- Islami, Ahle Sunat wal Jamaat led the rallies. The participants were chanting slogans against the US and the makers of the blasphemous film.

MUZAFFARABAD: Thousands of people poured onto the streets in all cities and towns of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to record their protest against the anti-Islam film, but unlike other parts of country no incident of violence was reported from anywhere, officials said.

Apart from the shutter down strikes and demonstrations, private and public transport also remained off the roads across AJK, officials and witnesses said.

In Muzaffarabad, small and big processions taken out from almost all neighbourhoods converged in the main thoroughfare outside the district headquarters complex.

A large number of women and girls staged a demonstration in the nearby girls higher secondary school.

CHAKWAL: Hundreds of people held rallies in the city and other towns here against the anti-Islam film.

Led by different religious organisations and political parties, the protesters in the city gathered at Bhoun Chowk where the speakers urged the government to suspend diplomatic relations with the US until the film maker was punished.
