MULTAN, Aug 7: The family of a woman who died in a private hospital on Tuesday protested against doctors alleging them of negligence.

A family member said Shahnaz Bibi, of Basti Khudadad, was admitted to Afzal Medicare Hospital on Muzaffarabad Road for labour service.

During the delivery, the woman and the newborn died. The family protested against the doctors alleging that their negligence had claimed the lives of the woman and the newborn. They ransacked furniture and other equipment and manhandled the administration and doctors.

The hospital administration rejected the allegations, saying Shahnaz and the newborn had not died on the hospital premises.

Sajid Ali, a staffer of the hospital, said they had referred the woman and the newborn to Nishtar Hospital after the family failed to arrange blood.

He said the owner and the administrator of the hospital were not available for comments.

He said the hospital administration was considering lodging an FIR against the family. The family of the deceased has approached the police for a case against doctors and the administration. —  Staff Correspondent
