ISLAMABAD: As the senate, on Tuesday, moved to pass a resolution condemning the recent wave of violence against the Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar, it was recommended that similar acts committed by extremists in Pakistan be also included in the same resolution.

When the upper house of the parliament met under the chairmanship of Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari to discuss the deteriorating situation in Myanmar, leader of the opposition Ishaq Dar suggested that Pakistan, along with other Muslim nations, should urge the United Nation to take notice.

Meanwhile, Senator Zahid Khan of Awami National Party (ANP) – the government’s coalition partner – suggested that acts of violence and terror being carried out by extremists in Pakistan be also made part of the resolution.

Earlier, Khan and several other senators belonging to ANP walked out of the house in protest against the worsening electricity crisis in the country.
