KARACHI, Nov 24: The International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (Ideas 2006) organised at the Expo Centre concluded on Friday with a display by the joint forces.

The concluding ceremony of Ideas 2006 was held at Manora Island in which arms, ships and aircrafts used by Pakistan armed forces especially the indigenous manufactured submarine, Saad, and Super Mushak aircraft demonstrated their skills.

Personnel of the three armed forces displayed their skills through various exercises. Pakistan Air Force aircrafts made aerial formation and displayed aerobatics.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsan-ul-Haque described the Ideas 2006 as a successful event saying it would help build a positive image of Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen at the joint forces display, he said exhibitors from world's renowned arms manufacturing firms not only displayed their products in the exhibition but the event also provided a lot of knowledge and gave opportunity to exchange ideas and critical defence technologies with friendly countries.

General Ehsan said basic motive behind joint forces display was to show training and professional standards of Pakistani armed forces. “Our training standard is much better than a lot of other countries. More than 1000 military officials of different countries are being trained every year at our academies” he added.

Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Thursday said Pakistan’s armed forces had realized the dream of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah of a strong and stable Pakistan through acquisition of modern technology.

Talking to journalists following a dinner reception in connection with Ideas 2006 at Qasim Park, the chief minister said it was glorious for Pakistan and particularly Sindh that the biggest defence exhibition in the history of the country was held here.—Agencies
