SHANGLA: The number of dengue positive cases in Shangla district has soared to 152 in the last two weeks as over 100 cases have been detected in Maira and Batkot areas of Bisham tehsil.

Kamal Zada, a spokesman of local health department, told reporters here on Wednesday that since the outbreak of dengue on Aug 31 in the district about 152 positive cases had been reported from various areas.

He said Bisham tehsil’s Maira and Batkot areas were the most affected. However, he said that lady health workers were conducting door-to-door visits for creating awareness and identification of dengue mosquito larvae.

He said about 10 dengue patients were admitted to tehsil headquarters hospital, Bisham, brought from Allai tehsil of neighbouring Battagram district.

He said the health department had established isolation wards in the THQ hospital Bisham, DHQ hospital Alpuri, THQ hospital Puran, rural health centres in Karora and Chakesar for dengue patients.

TRADERS FINED: Assistant commissioner, Alpuri, Fidaul Karim on Wednesday conducted raids in different bazaars to check quality of food and other daily use commodities, and fined several shopkeepers for selling expired items.

He took the action on the directives of deputy commissioner Imran Hussain Ranjah. He also warned the hotel owners to ensure cleanliness and serve quality food to customers, or face action.

WALK HELD: A walk was held at Aloch Bazaar on Wednesday to create awareness among people about enrolment of the out-of-school children.

The awareness walk was arranged by the education department in connection with the mid-year enrolment campaign.

Officials of education department, educationists and people from different walks of life participated in the walk.

The participants urged the people to enroll their children in the nearby government schools so that they could get education for a bright future.
