ABBOTTABAD: Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Momina Basit has said that imposition of taxes will set the economy in the right direction.

Addressing a public meeting at Lora here, she said that the government’s tax reforms would soon yield good results. She urged the traders’ community to pay taxes to improve country’s economic health, said a press release issued here.

She said that new roads would be constructed while a health unit would also be set up in Lora area to ease the life of the citizens. She also announced that primary and secondary schools of the area would be upgraded.

Ms Basit said the prevailing price hike in the country was the result of the ‘corruption’ of the past governments. She said that the PTI government took reins of power at a time when the country’s exchequer had been bankrupt, thus forcing it to go to the IMF for a bailout package.

The PTI lawmaker said if the traders started paying taxes, the common taxpayers would get some relief. She said the business community would have to change mindset and start paying taxes to help boost the country’s economy.

Sardar Sajid Ali Khan Abbasi, member district council, also spoke on the occasion. A large number of people attended the meeting.
