RAWALPINDI: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in a double murder and an act of terrorism from the Islamabad International Airport with the help of the Federal Investigation Agency.

The suspect’s name had been blacklisted by police because of his alleged in 54 cases including terrorism, attempted murder and rape.

A police spokesperson said that Potohar Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Ali told City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Faisal Rana that the suspect was wanted in an attack on the Rawalpindi judicial complex in 2018, in which a suspect, Mateeullah Faheem, was attacked outside the court where he had been presented.

Faheem and one of the attackers, Sattar Khan, were killed.

A case was registered regarding the incident with the Civil Lines police station under section seven of the Anti-Terrorism Act, as well as on murder charges.

The suspect was nominated in the case; one of 54 registered on charges of murder, robbery, sexual abuse and attempted murder with various police stations. He fled the country, while the police blacklisted his name to prevent him from leaving.

His name was flagged when he began his journey home from the United Arab Emirates. Police then worked with the FIA and arrested him at the airport.
