ISLAMABAD: The law directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has barred the land directorate from holding balloting of plots without the approval of the authority’s board.

The land directorate was going to hold balloting for a few plots in G-10 on Wednesday.

However, sources said the law directorate barred the land directorate from holding the balloting citing court order.

“It has been learnt that balloting for allotment of plots to affected people in G-10 is going to be processed by director land. Whereas the court in its order issued on April 29 had directed the CDA that petitioners shall be provided an opportunity to appear before the member estate for hearing,” the letter said.

It said the CDA had been asked to intimate the outcome of the hearing to the court on the next date of hearing on June 26.

In this regard, a comprehensive report may be sent to the law wing for filing in the court.

“The process of balloting for allotment of plots to the affected persons in G-10 should not be carried out without the approval of the CDA board,” the law wing’s letter said.

An official of the land directorate said the petitioners were provided an opportunity by the member estate and it was decided that being affected persons, they are eligible to get plots in G-10.

CDA spokesperson Syed Safdar Ali confirmed that balloting for plots had been cancelled after objections raised by the law wing.
