KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday arrested a man after the Supreme Court cancelled his interim bail in Islamabad.

“NAB Karachi arrested an accused, Mehmood Sharif, after cancellation of his interim bail by the Supreme Court,” said a spokesperson of the anti-graft watchdog here.

The held suspect was wanted in a reference against Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader and former federal minister for ports and shipping Babar Khan Ghauri and MQM-P MPA Javed Hanif pertaining to 940 illegal appointments in the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).

The NAB spokesperson alleged that the appointments were made in “violation of rules and codal formalities”.
