ISLAMABAD: Police and paramilitary troops cordoned off the capital’s F-9 Park for more than seven hours in search of six “armed men” the night between Thursday and Friday.

There was no trace of the armed men after the long search and law enforcement personnel do not know where they went.

At about 10pm Thursday night, a uniformed army official had spotted six men with weapons while passing through the park and had immediately alerted the police and other concerned departments.

According to a police official, the army man had seen the armed men enter the park from the G-9/2 side.

A police contingent and paramilitary troops had rushed to the park and cordoned it off. A search for the men was started which was hampered by the dark. Deployments were made in and around the park and officials waited till sunrise when the search was conducted again, but no one was found.

A police official told Dawn that all areas of the park were combed and that it is possible the men may have left via the drain.
