CHAKWAL: Four brothers allegedly killed their widowed mother for the pretext of honour, police sources said on Saturday.

The tragic incident took place in Naseerabad locality near Chakwal city.

According to police, Sultana Bibi, who was in her early 50s, was living in a rented house with her four sons.

Her husband had died five years ago. Her sons suspected her of having extra-marital relations with a man.

During the early hours of Friday, her sons exchanged hot words with their mother over the issue.

“Later the four stabbed their mother multiple times and when she fell down one of the accused smashed a mattock on her back. She died on the spot,” a police official said.

After killing their mother, the four accused ran away. A daughter of the deceased living nearby saw her mother’s body lying in a pool of blood the next morning.

“We have registered a case and raids are being conducted to trace the suspects,” a police official told Dawn.
