PESHAWAR: Councillors and nazims from different districts of southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held a rally here on Thursday against the provincial government for its failure to pay them salaries for the past 15 months.

The protesters, led by All Councillors Alliance president Anwar Rasheed, gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with demands for release of their salaries, office rent and development funds.

Talking to mediapersons, the councillors said that PTI chairman Imran Khan had promised to provide funds for uplift of under-developed areas and facilities to the elected representatives.

They said that the councillors and village council nazims belonging to Kohat, Karak, Hangu and Bannu had not been paid salaries and other funds for the past 15 months.

They claimed that the class-IV employees were not performing duties as they had been recruited on the basis of political affiliations and no action was taken against them.
