SHANGLA: The dwellers of Bisham city have complained about internet service suspension for last three days.

They said suspension of the broadband service had affected their routine activities, especially those applying online for jobs in the education department.

“The provincial government has advertised jobs for unemployed youth in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elementary and secondary education department trough the National Testing Service, but the job seekers could not apply owing to suspension of internet service,” Badar Zaman, a shopkeeper, lamented. He said the businesses connected with the interest had also been affected.

Saad Khan, an NGO official, said due to unavailability of internet service they could not pursue their official work. He said they did not know why the internet service was suspended.

Kishwar Khan, an official at a private bank, said internet service went down four days ago and remained suspended till date, halting banking services in the city and its suburbs.

When contacted, Arshad Khan, an in-charge of PTCL broadband at Bisham, told Dawn the service was suspended as work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor continued in the area. He, however, said the service would be restored soon.

VOLUNTEERS DAY: Pakistan Red Crescent Society organised a walk in Alpuri Bazaar to mark the International Volunteers Day on Sunday.

Speaking to the participants of the walk, the PRCS officials lauded the volunteers’ services in Shangla during various incidents and disasters.

They urged volunteers to inform their colleagues promptly when an incident occurred so that damage could be kept to minimum level.
