PESHAWAR: Customs officials seized eight kilogramme gold at Bacha Khan Airport during body search of a passenger who had arrived from Dubai on Monday, officials said.

According to customs officials, the accused person, Nasir Hussain of Peshawar, had arrived from Dubai via PK-284. During body search the officials recovered eight kilogramme gold (720 tola), which was concealed in his belt and shoes.

It was stated that the estimated cost of the gold was Rs32.4 million. It was added that the customs department had also recovered four kilogramme gold and Rs50 million currency during last two months in Peshawar and its Torkham checkpost.

The customs department, the officials said, had tightened checking at the airport and different checkposts to curb smuggling. Cases against the accused persons were registered.
