LAKKI MARWAT: The tribesmen from Frontier Region of Lakki on Monday blocked the Mastikhel-Tajbikhel road to register their protest against prolonged power suspension.

Over 400 tribal people gathered at Ghazakhel point where they blocked the road to vehicular traffic. The closure of road caused trouble for transporters besides the students could not reach their schools on time. On the occasion, the tribal chiefs said that power facility to the tribal region had been suspended for last three weeks but the authorities concerned seemed reluctant to restore it.

“The quarters concerned do not pay any heed to resolve the problems of tribesmen,” they complained, and asked the authorities to explain why they did not take any step so far to repair the fault in the power supply line.

They maintained that the delay in restoring electricity facility to frontier tribal region had caused unrest among the people as the prolonged power suspension had confronted them with numerous problems.

They demanded of the political administration to direct quarters concerned to repair the fault and restore power facility without delay.

Later, assistant political agent reached the venue and convinced the protesters to end the protest and open the road.

Mr Kamal asked the MPs from the district and the local government to take concrete steps for betterment of the special people. He said special people were important segment of the society and to formulate and execute policies for their wellbeing was constitutional, religious and moral obligation of the government.
