HYDERABAD: Lawyers boycotted courts in many Sindh towns on Monday to condemn Quetta suicide blast and express solidarity with heirs of the victims.

The call for protest was given by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC).

In Hyderabad, lawyers did not appear in civil, sessions and high courts while the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) adopted a resolution demanding compensation for the heirs of the blast victim.

The HCBA further demanded the deceased lawyers’ children should be given jobs and said that a lawyers’ conference on national level had become need of the hour to discuss present situation confronting lawyers across the country.

Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) general secretary Imdad Unnar said that lawyers did not appear in sessions courts. Those responsible for the attack in Quetta’s civil hospital should be arrested and deceased lawyers’ families should be provided compensation.

UMERKOT: Lawyers associated with District Bar Association (DBA) boycotted court proceedings, wore black armbands and observed a sit-in outside the court to express solidarity with heirs of Quetta blast victims here on Monday.

DBA president Nabi Bux Shaikh said the government had miserably failed to protect lives of citizens. Lawyers and journalists were ambassadors of peace and soldiers of law and justice but state had completely failed to take appropriate security measures, he said.

He wondered at the government and law enforcement agencies blaming each other for failure and said it was high time the prime minister step down as he had failed to fulfill his responsibilities.

SUKKUR: Lawyers staged protest outside the DBA office in protest against Quetta carnage.

The protesters said that despite passage of several days the government could not arrest the culprits involved in the carnage which proved negligence and failure of the government.

They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the carnage to end unrest among lawyers community.
