KARACHI: Neighbouring India has sent a list of 26 probables and four officials for securing visas for participation in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World 6-Red and Team Championship which takes place at a local hotel from Aug 6-15.

The Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) became the first affiliated nation of the IBSF to send entries for the mega event that will take place in the country for the first time, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) said on Wednesday.

After selecting the final squad from amongst the 26 cueists, the BSFI will inform their Pakistani counterparts in due course of time.

It is pertinent to mention that the PBSF has asked the BSFI to send required details of their probables and officials at least 60 days before the event for onward submission to the ministry of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

The BSFI President Capt P V K Mohan, who also heads the IBSF, secretary, S. Balasubramanium, coaches Derek Sippy and Yasin Merchant were the four officials whose passport details has also been forwarded.

“I’m excepting 25 countries to feature in the annual spectacle though around 82 nations are affiliated with the IBSF,” the PBSF president Alamgir Shaikh told Dawn.

Commenting on the probables list forwarded by the BSFI, he said it (list) has been dispatched to Islamabad for visa process. He said the final list to be sent by India may contain 16 to 18 names.

Probables:

Women’s: Vidya Visivanathan Pillai, Neena Praveen, R. Umadevi, Amee Kamani, Chitra Magimairajan, Arantxa Sanchis, Suniti Damani, Neeta Vikram Sanghvi and Judy Walia Kishinani.

Men’s and master’s: Sourav Kothari, Brijesh Damani, Kamal Chawla, Ketan Chawla, VarunKumar Jaganathan, Varun Madan, Rahul Sachdev, Aneesh Saini, Pankaj Arjan Advani, Manan Chandra, Mohammad Faisal Khan, Dharminder Singh Lilly, Shahbaaz Adil Khan, Devendra Shreekant Joshi, Sanjay Shivaji Sawant, Manoj Kumar Kothari and Subash Agarwal.
