Civil awards conferred on seven people in Quetta

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Mohammad Khan Achakzai conferred national awards (civil) on seven people on behalf of the president at an investiture ceremony held at the Governor House on Monday.

The governor conferred Sitara-i-Imtiaz on Engineer Ahmed Farooq Bazai, Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences.

Prof Tahir Ahsas Jatak received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his contribution to literature and Mohammad Siddique Baloch was given Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his work in the field of journalism.

The governor conferred Pride of Performance award on Mohammad Bashir, music(folk singer); Taj Mohammad, music (Banjo player); Kaneez Fatima, arts (Blochi embroidery); and the late Agha Meer Naseer Khan Ahmedzai. The award of Agha Ahmedzai was received by his son.

The ceremony held in connection with Pakistan Day was attended by Commander of Southern Command Lt Gen Mohammad Naseer Khan Janjua, provincial ministers Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Mir Mujibur Rehman, Moham­mad Hasni and Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, Adviser to Chief Minister Sardar Raza Baraich, Inspe­ctor General Frontier Corps Balochistan Maj Gen Sher Afgun, IGP Balochistan Moha­m­­mad Amlesh Khan, Mayor of Quetta Metrop­olitan Corpo­r­ation Dr Kali­m­ullah, Deputy Mayor Mohammad Younas Baloch and senior officials.
