LARKANA: Fate of 150 students of Bibi Assefa Dental College (BADC) Larkana hangs in the balance as the faculty has refused to conduct examinations.

Annual exams of three batches of the college had been scheduled to start on Feb 23, but due to empty ‘question bank’, they were deferred, said Dr Akbar Bhutto, the controller of examinations of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) while talking to Dawn here on Tuesday.

According to sources, the dental faulty, along with the principal, has submitted a list of demands to SMBBMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ghulam Asghar Channa. The VC confirmed to Dawn on Tuesday that he had received the demands and also held initial talks with the faculty members the previous Friday.

The exam controller said that since January 2015, he had continuously been writing to the dental faculty over the ‘question bank’ so as to set papers for theory examinations. But till today (Tuesday), they had not replied, he said, wondering how he could conduct examinations without questions for setting papers.

Referring to the meeting held the previous Friday, he said the faculty had agreed to fill the ‘question bank’ with their set of questions but in vain.

The situation had prompted the management to postpone the examinations, he said.
