TIMERGARA: The headmistresses of government girls primary schools in Lower Dir on Wednesday demanded the release of funds meant for providing security at the schools.

In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, the head teachers complained that after the Army Public School incident they were told to raise boundary walls of their schools, which they did on their own, but despite passage of over a month the promised funds had not been released.

The teachers said that cement dealers, labourers and masons were demanding payment, adding that the same funds had been released to the boys schools and girls’ middle and high schools.

They demanded of the concerned authorities to immediately release the funds.

Meanwhile, the tehsil municipal administration on Wednesday started draining dirty water accumulated along the bank of the Panjkora River, which was polluting a water supply scheme.

TMO Attaullah Khan led a team of the tehsil municipal administration to clean the area of dirty water.

The local residents had complained that dirty water from the Timergara hospital side was polluting water of the tube-well. They appreciated the TMA for heeding their calls.
