TIMERGARA: The Upper Dir district development advisory committee chairman Malik Behram Khan has said that uplift schemes in the area would improve the living standard of people.

Addressing a function at Khall here on Sunday, he also announced that Rs25.3 million had been allocated for upgradation of the girls middle school in Khall Bar Kalay area to higher secondary level.

He said that construction of colleges, one each for boys and girls, in Upper Dir was also in the pipeline, while link road of Khall Bar Kalay would also be blacktopped. He said that Rs5.3 million had been approved for water supply scheme.

The JI lawmaker said that he was aware of the problems facing the local people and that he would not disappoint them during his tenure.

The JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa deputy chief and former MNA Maulana Asadullah, district president of Qaumi Watan Party Akhunzada Sikandar Hazrat and others also spoke on the occasion.

The participants offered fateha for the victims of the attack on the Army Public School and College, Peshawar.

DOCTORS’ THREAT: The Provincial Doctors’ Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, on Sunday announced to resist the government’s proposed institutional-based practice policy and demanded its reversal.

PDA representatives, including Dr Fazal Rahim, Dr Haya Syed, Dr Fauzullah and others, termed the decision as unjust. They said the doctors’ community would strongly resist the decision.

They were speaking at a farewell party held in honour of Dr Hazrat Halim, Dr Riaz, Dr Haya Syed and Dr Hakim at the DHQ hospital, Timergara.

WINTER PACKAGES: The Al-Khidmat Foundation, Lower Dir chapter, on Sunday distributed winter packages among 200 poor and deserving residents.

A function in this regard was held here chaired by local AKF president Fazal Mehmood. The foundation distributed blankets, warm clothes and quilts among 200 selected persons.

Addressing the function, Fazal Mehmood said that they had been assisting poor people, including widows and orphans, during natural and manmade disasters.
