KARACHI: Two Muttahida Qaumi Movement workers were killed in separate incidents in Landhi and Orangi Town, police and party officials said on Sunday.

They added that four men allegedly kidnapped MQM worker Mohammed Sajid, aka Abid, in Landhi-89 on Saturday night and later threw him in a critical condition in the same area after torture and fled.

He was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where he died on Sunday morning, said Landhi SHO Huzoor Bux Solangi.

The police officer said he had repeatedly been hit with a blunt instrument. He added that the deceased was an MQM worker in Landhi-89. The police registered a case in which four suspects identified as Nisar Wali, Zubair, alias Cheeta; Mumtaz Ali and Faisal were nominated.

The case was registered against the suspects on complaint of the victim’s sister, but no arrest was made despite raids in several places, the Landhi SHO added.

Another MQM worker was shot dead while a passer-by was wounded in Orangi Town on Sunday night, the Iqbal Market police said.

They added that 55-year-old Abdul Waheed was passing through Chishti Nagar when armed motorcyclists attacked him. The MQM worker and a passerby identified as Danish sustained bullet wounds in the attack. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where Waheed was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim was a worker of the MQM, said Iqbal Market SHO Ghulam Rasool Rajpar.
