KARACHI: The Central Depository Company of Pakistan (CDC), the final custodian of stockholders’ funds, broke silence on Friday and released a statement acknowledging: “The CDC call centre received 600 calls per day on an average regarding KASB Securities Limited (KSL) this working week.”

The CDC reassured investors that it was taking additional measures to facilitate the account holders of KSL during its current suspension period.

“So far, CDC has handled 126 transfer of holding cases while 24,921,101 securities worth around Rs1 billion have been transferred from KSL into respective accounts.”

The CDC informed that ever since the announcement by SECP, CDC in order to facilitate the investors had set up dedicated help desks with steadfast staff while providing extensive support through CDC call centre and investor account services at all branches.

The CDC noted that all requests made so far with respect to KSL were fulfilled and 141 investor accounts were opened with it.

“The CDC head office in Karachi and branch offices in Lahore and Islamabad will remain open on Saturday (Nov 22) to further facilitate customers,” the depository said, adding: “All these measures are in line with CDC’s policy of facilitating customers and playing an integral role in safeguarding their investment portfolios.”
