BEIJING: China’s defence ministry on Thursday expressed concern over reports that India plans to build 54 new border posts along their disputed border, long a source of tension between the two giant neighbours.
China defeated India in a brief war in 1962 and the border has remained unresolved since, despite 17 rounds of talks. The two armies cannot even agree on the location of the Line of Actual Control, the ceasefire line following the 1962 fighting, leading to face-offs between border patrols.
In September, India eased curbs on building roads and military facilities within 100 km of the contested border in its remote northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, so as to speed construction of 6,000 km of roads.
The move came as Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India, in an effort to defuse the deep distrust between both countries, despite growing trade and business ties.

China has built enormous infrastructure along it's border with India. Now India has belatedly started boosting it's own infrastructure. China has no right to protest.

The news item says the border is DISPUTED . Shouldn't India be settling this dispute with China first ? Or is there some twisted Indian logic that renders such a step unnecessary .

The headlines seem to suggest that India asked for permission, which India did not. China can reject or accept, but posts will be built irrespective. Just like the ties with Vietnam are getting closer particularly in search for oil.

With a religious fanatic like Narinder Modi at the helm of affairs, China can ill afford to let him run amok. Modi has failed to appease his fanatic following in the recent working-boundary flareup with Pakistan. Most Indians are brainwashed to think of India as a superpower and Pakistan as a failed-state. Well, in the current month-long fighting the superpower failed to kill a single soldier of the failed-state or capture one square inch of territory, Modi needs to divert attention from this failure.

Why can't Indians live like other peaceful nations in the region? Occupying disputed territory along chinese border, and occupying Kashmir on Pakistani border. India does not honour plebisite resolution of UNO on Kashmir either. Indians should stop daydreaming and stop causing troubles. Indians should realize they are dealing with two mighty nulear nations. Time to face reality in neighbourhood, settle disputes and live peacefully.
