LAKKI MARWAT: The All Primary Teachers Association has alleged violation of merit in the appointment of invigilators for the Secondary School Certificate supplementary examination.

Accompanied by APTA office-bearers, president of the association Haji Abdul Rahim said the top officials of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bannu had selected ‘blue-eyed and dishonest’ teachers as invigilators for the examination and that act was intolerable for local teachers at large.

He said the board ignored the teachers recommended by the education department for supervising the examination.

“Such a big breach of merit will throw the fairness of the entire examination system into question,” he said.

Rahim said Apta and other teacher organisations would agitate against the appointment of dishonest invigilators by the BISE, Bannu.

Other office-bearers of the association said the people won’t accept the results of the exam if it was supervised by corrupt teachers. They demanded action against the culpable officials.

CRACKDOWN ON CRIMINALS: The police on Saturday began a crackdown on criminals and destroyed their sanctuaries in the mountainous area of Abbasa bordering Karak and Mianwali districts.

An official in the know said the personnel of the district police assisted by the Anti-Terrorist Squad and Elite Force commandos took part in the crackdown and destroyed hideouts of proclaimed offenders in the mountains.

He said personnel of law-enforcement agencies with armoured personnel carriers on their disposal didn’t face resistance in the daylong operation led by DPO Ismail Kharak.

The official said the police captured seven suspects and seized two AK-47 assault rifles, two shotguns, a pistol and a large number of bullets.

He said a heavy contingent of police had been deployed in the area to hunt outlaws in the mountainous region.
