LANDI KOTAL: Lashkar-i-Islam militants on Friday killed a tribesman in Tirah valley for spying.

Sources said Nek Mohammad captured in Speen Drand locality a few days ago was convicted of spying on the banned outfit.

They said first, the man was shot dead and then, his body was displayed in an open area for several hours before being handed over to family.

Also in the day, the khasadar force recovered the body of Salim Khan in a Jamrud house.

The officials said the man was gunned down from a close range and that his body was dumped in a house in Pump House locality near Ghundi.

They said the man belonged to Sikanderkhel sub-tribe of Kukikhel but the reason behind his killing was not known.

Meanwhile, the Jamrud political administration on Friday arrested 45 Turkhel tribesmen during a search operation in Sur Kamar area under the Collective Territorial Responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The administration also sealed 90 shops of Turkhel tribesmen over failure to check militant attacks on Nato vehicles in Sur Kamar area.

At least four transporters were killed and two were injured, while two oil tankers were destroyed during attacks by militants linked to Jaish-i-Khurasan group over the last four days.

The attackers rode motorcycles though there is a ban on pillion riding in the area.

ELDERS JOIN HANDS FOR PEACE: Elders of Shalobar and Zakhakhel tribes on Friday joined hands for peace and development in Tirah valley.

The decision was made during a jirga of the two tribes here with Tirah Brigade deputy commandant Col Hafeez, additional political agent Ghulam Habib and assistant political agent Mohammad Nasir in attendance.

The elders named Haji Kaptan and Haji Beldar as focal persons for Shalobar and Zakhakhel tribes respectively.

A committee comprising 40 elders each from both tribes was also formed to act as a bridge between the political administration and local residents for peace and development in the area. It was also tasked with cracking down on troublemakers with the help of administration and security forces.

Col Hafeez and Ghulam Habib said all development schemes would be initiated with the consultations of elders.
