PESHAWAR: The board of governors of the Edwardes College, Peshawar, has decided unanimously to re-advertise the post of the principal of the institution internationally and select a candidate having distinctions of the desired level.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan here on Tuesday. The meeting was

attended among others by Provincial Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Secretary Higher Education Farah Hamed Khan, bishop of Peshawar and the vice-chancellors of the University of Peshawar and University of Haripur.

The meeting constituted a committee headed by the bishop of Peshawar and comprising of representatives of provincial higher education department, Governor’s Secretariat and the Old Boys Association of the college to revisit the constitution, rules and working procedures of the college and submit its recommendations to the board to further improve its functioning.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor, who is also the chairman of the board of governors of Edwardes College, Peshawar said that the college with a lot of achievements to its credit was one of the most prestigious institutions of the country.

Every possible measure would be taken to maintain its distinctive status amongst its sister institutions, he said. “We, being the members of the board of governors of the institution, do realise our responsibilities of ensuring functioning of this institution to the desired standards,” the governor said.
