PM chairs high level meeting on national and regional security

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high level meeting to discuss matters pertaining to national and regional security.

The meeting was attended by Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed and Director General military operations Major Gen Amir Riaz.

Prevailing National and regional security situation was reviewed in the meeting which also discussed the law and order situation in Balochistan and Karachi.

COAS General Raheel Sharif gave a briefing regarding his talks with the Nato and International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) commanders, and Afghan leadership in Kabul yesterday and and security for second phase of Afghan Presidential elections.

The prime minister during the meeting said that national security was of paramount importance for the country.

how can a country well become stable, by stealing the rights of small provinces. i guess internal problems will increase when educated youth of small provinces grow, when they see how the rights of Baluchistan and KPK were stolen. like me

Your family govt is incapable of doing anything..so you are always holding these meetings whenever you get time from foreign trips... What was the outcome of your meetings so far.. You are hiding your failures... May God save pakistan from you and your family govt..

@Aussie Your illiterate masses voted them in power for the 3rd time .. what to expect. Miracles! but he is doing better than Zardari -- the accidental president .. at least we see some foreign reserves increase, loans granted by IMF. WORLDBANK .ADB. stock market index, some works on nuclear power plants, solar parks, coal power plants, motorway, Gawadar port -metro bus etc.

Does n't matter how but win Punjab in the election, then rule the country. As long as Punjab remains undivided. rights & development of small provinces will be minuscule.

It is simply our wish and desire to see a safe and secure Pakistan. Our nations have made a lot of our sacrifices in our shared quest for peace, but it is simply not possible to have a stable region without a stable Pakistan. The bottom line is that we cannot over emphasize Pakistan
