DERA MURAD JAMALI: Police arrested on Tuesday two men allegedly involved in the killing of local Journalist Khawaja Muhammad Afzal and his driver.

Usta Muhammad-based journalist Khawaja Afzal working for a daily published from Quetta, was killed along with his driver on Feb 1 by unidentified armed men while returning to Usta Muhammad from Jacobabad late in the night.

The armed men intercepted his vehicle and asked him to hand over the vehicle, but Mr Afzal offered resistance and the armed men opened fire, killing him and his driver on the spot.

Addressing a press conference in the cattle farm police station, District Police Syed Ishfaq Anwar said: “We arrested two of the five accused involved in the killing of journalist Afzal.”

He said that efforts were under way to arrest the remaining accused.

He announced a reward for the people who helped police in the arrest of the accused and appealed to the people to cooperate with the police for the arrest of elements involved in such heinous crimes.
