TOBA TEK SINGH: Police on Sunday arrested the fourth suspect wanted in a case in which a nine-year-old schoolboy was murdered by his kidnapers after his father failed to pay them Rs0.5 million as ransom.

Rajana police SHO Jamshed Nasir Chishti told the media that earlier three alleged killers of the boy were arrested who confessed to have murdered him after failing to get ransom.

Giving details, the SHO said on Feb 15 Shahzad Maseeh (9) was kidnapped at Chak 284-GB when he was returning home from school.

Later, his father Bashir Maseeh received a call on his mobile phone and the caller warned if Rs0.5m were not paid to them with in a week the boy would be killed.

His father reported the matter to police.

However, the police failed to trace the killers within the deadline given by the suspects.

Meanwhile, the beheaded body of the boy was found at Chak 322-GB in Chuttiana police station limits.

The SHO said the police on March 7 took into custody three suspects of Pirmahal -- Yousaf Shamoon, Waris Maseeh and Afzal Maseeh – all relatives of Bashir Maseeh.

They confessed to have killed the boy and named their fourth accomplice Yousaf Maseeh who was arrested on Sunday from Khanewal.

In their confessional statement, the suspects said on 15 Feb they went to Chak 284-GB on two motorcycles and kidnapped Shehzad.

They kept him locked in a house at Pirmahal and waited for a week for payment of ransom.

However, when they got no money from the his father they beheaded the boy and threw his body in fields at Chak 322-GB.

The SHO said the three arrested accused were on five-day physical remand given by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Faisalabad.

He said the fourth suspects would be produced in the ATC on Monday (today).

The SHO said police have recovered school uniform of the deceased boy and the mobile phone SIMs used by the suspects for contacting the his father for ransom.
