TOBA TEK SINGH: A cash of Rs4 million was allegedly stolen on Saturday night from Chaudhry Sugar Mills situated at Gojra-Faisalabad Road.

The mills is owned by the Nawaz Sharif family.

Reports said the cash had been drawn from a bank branch and was kept in accounts office of the mills for payment of salaries to the staff. The amount was missing on Saturday night.

Gojra Sadar police have taken five employees of accounts office into custody.

LAND FRAUD: District Coordination Officer Dr Farah Masood has recommended the Faisalabad commissioner to take action against Naib Tehsildar Asif Abbas Kathia under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act for his alleged involvement in the fraud case of computerisation of revenue department's land record.

The DCO has suspended from service another accused, Muhammad Yousuf, a peon at Mohafiz Khana.

Reports said a politician from Kamalia, Aftab Fatyana, had sold his 52 acre farmland to one Khalid during 2001 to 2010 against Rs10.8 million. Later, Mr Fatyana allegedly got changed revenue record of the sold land through Naib Tehsildar Asif Abbas Kathia and showed buyer Khalid as a contractor.

The DCO had appointed District Monitoring Officer Asif Dogar as inquiry officer who recommended action against Mr Fatyana and his two aides Sharif and Murtaza who had attested the fake documents as witnesses.

STAFF UNPAID: More than 50 work-charged employees of buildings department had not been paid salaries for the last five months.

Pakistan Workers Federation office-bearers Mustafa Paras and Rana Jafar told reporters on Sunday that 27 staffers of provincial buildings department and 25 of district chapter had not been paid salaries because of what the respective official said unavailability of funds.

When contacted, District Accounts Officer Muhammad Boota said salaries could not be paid due to shortage of funds. However, a summary had been forwarded to the finance EDO for release of funds, he said.
