SUKKUR: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) president Afzal Butt has said that no attempt can divide journalists who are united on one platform. Addressing a journalists’ convention’ at the Sukkur Press Club on Sunday, he said journalists had rendered sacrifices during the dictatorial rule and struggled for freedom of expression.

He assured the journalists of Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad and other districts of Sindh that the PFUJ would try to solve their problems.

The convention was also attended by PFUJ secretary general Khursheed Abbasi, All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation president Shafiuddin Ashraf, presidents of press clubs of Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad and Sukkur Union of Journalists president Shahzad Tabani.

The participants offered Fateha for the journalists killed in different incidents of violence and acts of terrorism, including Shan Dahar of AbbTakk news channel.

Our Correspondent in Larkana adds: A large number of journalists and people from different walks of life held a demonstration outside the Jinnah Bagh here on Sunday in protest against the killing of Shan Dahar.

The rally jointly organised by the PFUJ and the Karachi Union of Journalists demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Shan Dahar. Two daughters and two sisters of the slain journalist also participated in the demonstration.
