RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced another grace period of two months for thousands of foreign workers who could not correct their status during the seven-month amnesty granted previously to complete the rectification procedures. The fresh amnesty has been extended until March 1.
Several foreign missions had requested the Saudi government to extend the amnesty period, as many of their nationals were unable to complete formalities.
The Pakistani mission had also made a similar request when the amnesty ended on Nov 3, 2013.
“Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif has ordered the department to complete correction procedures of expatriates whose papers were being processed by the Labour Ministry during the amnesty, before March 1,” Maj Gen Suleiman Al Yahya, director general of the passport department told the media.
