LAHORE, Sept 3: Recent increase in the prices of petroleum products has been challenged in the Lahore High Court through a fresh application moved in an already pending case on the matter.

Judicial Activism Panel Chairman Advocate Azhar Siddique filed this application saying the oil prices in the international market are declining, but the Pakistan government has increased the same.

He states the petroleum prices have declined significantly since the US announced attacking Syria.

The lawyer pleads the POL prices in Pakistan have become unaffordable for a common citizen.

He further pleads the recent increase in oil prices is in clear violation of articles 9, 14, and 18 of the Constitution.

The chief justice will take up this application on Wednesday (today) along with the main petition.
